Lubiatowo-Kopalino, Pomerania. Bechtel took site control of Poland's first nuclear plant in August 2026, with over 400 people already on the project.

Bechtel took over the project site for Poland's first nuclear power plant at Lubiatowo-Kopalino in the Choczewo municipality, north of Gdańsk, in August 2026, with earthworks under way. More than 400 people were reported working on the project at handover, about a third of them hired in Poland, and the number is expected to grow as construction advances.

Preparatory works are being delivered by Budimex, and the operator PEJ has said it aims to sign the main engineering, procurement and construction contract with the Westinghouse and Bechtel consortium. A nuclear build ramps over years, so accommodation demand moves from a few hundred to several thousand beds across the programme. Choczewo is a small coastal municipality with mainly seasonal supply, so the realistic catchment stretches towards Wejherowo, Lębork and the Tricity.
