Pierrelatte, Drôme. Orano is adding four enrichment modules to Georges Besse II, with first cascades planned from 2028.

Orano is extending its Georges Besse II uranium enrichment plant on the Tricastin nuclear site at Pierrelatte in the Drôme, with an investment of nearly €1.7bn. Four enrichment modules are being added to the existing fourteen, and a decree of 28 April 2026 raises the plant's authorised capacity from 7.5 million to 10.4 million separative work units a year. The first stone was laid on 10 October 2024. Local press reported the works 50 to 55 percent complete in June 2026, with civil engineering and module construction under way. Orano plans first cascades from 2028 and full commissioning in 2030, subject to regulator approval.

Orano has said up to 1,000 people will work on the build. Pierrelatte had 13,756 residents at the 2023 census, so crews spread across Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, about 9 km, Bollène, about 15 km, and Montélimar, about 30 km. The permanent site base built for the project holds offices, a canteen and changing rooms rather than lodging, so crews rely on the local rental and hotel market.
