EcoDataCenter is building a data centre campus on the former Kvarnsveden paper mill site in Borlänge, Dalarna, with 250 MW at launch and potential to grow to 600 MW. Construction started on 24 September 2025, and the company has since bought the rest of the industrial site, about 200,000 square metres in total. ByggPartner holds a multi-year partnership contract, with an order of just over SEK 800m for the first hall.
By May 2026 the timber frame of the first data centre was complete, the second was well advanced and piling and foundations were under way for the third and fourth. The company says the first three are on track to go live in 2027. Local press reported 300 to 400 workers from around 30 subcontractors for the first phase, with the build expected to run for eight to ten years. Further halls depend on a detailed plan that won initial approval in June 2026. Borlänge had 51,354 residents at the end of 2025, and crews also base in Falun, about 20 km away, and Ludvika.
