Schwarz Digits, the IT arm of the group behind Lidl and Kaufland, is building the Schwarz Digits Datacenter on the former power station site on Kraftwerkstraße in Lübbenau/Spreewald, Brandenburg. It will host the STACKIT cloud. The group puts the investment at €11bn, its largest single investment, on a 13 hectare site with a grid connection of about 200 MW to start. In January 2026 rbb24 reported that about 100 regional firms met at the town hall to discuss construction contracts. Lübbenau had 15,717 residents in March 2026, and the group already runs a Kaufland logistics centre there with more than 1,100 staff. Rooms near Kraftwerkstraße are already marketed to contractor teams, and summer tourism in the Spreewald competes for the same beds, so crews spread to Lübben, Vetschau, Calau and Cottbus.
