The Tyrrhenian Link is Terna's HVDC connection between Sicily, Sardinia and the Italian mainland, at a cost of about €3.7bn for the whole project. Onshore work at Eboli is continuing, and in September 2026 a temporary 500 tonne jetty opened at Torre del Tusciano to land the large converter transformers. Terna's earlier plan targeted completion of the east section in 2028. Eboli had 37,571 residents in January 2026 and Battipaglia about 49,500, so converter, cable and commissioning crews base in Eboli, Battipaglia and Salerno, with holiday rentals on the Paestum coast filling up in summer.
