Short answer

If your crews work in Denmark or Kassoe Housing's other seven countries and stay for months, its managed houses may cover you. If they move into other markets or need shorter stays, the question is who sources, contracts and invoices the accommodation once you're outside that footprint.

The short version

If you're searching for a Kassoe Housing alternative, it's usually because your project footprint has moved past the countries Kassoe covers, or because your stays don't fit a leased-house model. Kassoe Housing is a Danish operator that leases and manages furnished houses and apartments for construction and project crews. It says most of its clients are large companies with many employees on construction sites around Europe, and that it is the largest provider of furnished accommodation in Denmark. That works well for long projects in its markets. It gets harder when the crew mobilises somewhere else, because you're now adding a second provider, a second contract and a second invoice.

Bonjour Residences was built for that gap: sourcing furnished, self-catering accommodation across 27 European markets, through one point of contact and one consolidated invoice. We don't own or operate any property. We are an independent sourcing agency working through a vetted network of 3,000+ suppliers and 70,000+ units. This article compares the two models directly so you can work out which one fits the shape of your project.

Why this comparison is hard to make cleanly

Most "alternative to X" comparisons assume both providers are chasing the same job. Here, they overlap more than most, but they're still built differently.

Kassoe Housing was founded in Viborg, Denmark, in 2018 to supply furnished houses to expats and construction workers on large Danish projects, where foreign specialists typically stay 3 to 24 months. It is named after Kassø, the first town where it followed a client. It added Germany and Belgium in 2021, Sweden, the UK and Switzerland through the purchase of Stay Central in 2023, and Finland and Ireland in 2024. It describes itself as an operator, recruits landlords to add homes to its portfolio, and manages them with local property managers.

Bonjour Residences is a sourcing agency across 27 markets, for crews that move between countries on the same programme or across parallel projects. That's not a claim that one model is better in the abstract. It is a claim that they're built for different footprints. A booker running one long Danish project should evaluate Danish providers on Danish terms. A booker running work in Denmark, Poland, Spain and Czechia in the same quarter has a different problem: who's consolidating all four.

The real pain: one operator per country, and a lease for every stay

Specialist crews follow the work. In our own booking data, 73% of bookings where both countries are recorded were cross-border, with the client company in one country and the accommodation in another (n=60). Our bookings spread across 16 countries and 133 cities. A crew that finishes in Jutland may be needed next in a market outside any single provider's footprint. Then the familiar list starts:

  • A different provider or landlord per market, each with their own contract terms and notice periods.
  • A different invoice format, currency and VAT treatment per country.
  • A different point of contact to chase when something goes wrong at 6pm on a Friday.
  • Card receipts to reconcile at month-end for the stays that fell outside the main agreement.

Stay length adds a second layer. An operator that leases homes is built for longer, steady occupancy. Many crew stays are shorter than that: across 203 bookings in our data, the median stay was 16 nights and 64% were under 30 nights. Short commissioning windows and shutdowns may suit an aparthotel or a hotel block better than a leased house.

Where Kassoe Housing is the right call

Worth saying plainly: if your crews work in Denmark or Kassoe's other markets and stay for months, a managed house with a local property manager is a good answer, and Kassoe has built its business on exactly that. Its relocation support in Ireland and its client app also help on a long programme. You don't need a 27-market network to solve a one-country problem. The calculation changes when:

  • You're mobilising the same crew, or parallel crews, into countries outside Kassoe's eight within the same budget cycle.
  • A large share of your stays are under 30 nights, or dates move often.
  • Finance wants one invoice trail across every country, not one per provider.
  • You're heading into a tight single-employer town where a wider search across several hosts changes the outcome. We go into that in Finding Accommodation in Single-Employer Pharma Towns: Kalundborg, Athlone and Beyond.

What changes with a pan-European sourcing model

The mechanics, in practice:

  • One point of contact. You raise a requirement once; we source across the vetted network rather than you contacting providers country by country.
  • One consolidated invoice. Countries and properties roll up into a single, VAT-compliant bill on 30-day terms. See Temporary Worker Accommodation: One Invoice, One Contact, No Minimum Volumes for how that's structured.
  • No minimums, no exclusivity, no lock-in. You're not required to commit volume to a single country or supplier to get workable rates.
  • All-inclusive rates. Utilities, Wi-Fi, taxes and support are built into the rate rather than arriving as separate line items per property.
  • Any length of stay. From a few nights to many months, matched to the right type of accommodation. Our clients have saved 20-30% by using the correct market for the length of stay.
  • Direct WhatsApp access for the crew. Workers message us directly for property issues, from check-in to check-out, rather than routing every problem through their manager.

None of that requires giving up flexibility. There's no exclusivity clause tying you to us for markets we're not sourcing well, and no minimum volume you have to hit to keep the rate.

Questions to ask any provider before you switch

Whether you're evaluating Kassoe Housing, Bonjour Residences, or a third option, get these in writing:

  1. Which countries do you actively source in today, not just in principle?
  2. Do you have your own staff in each of those countries, or do you subcontract?
  3. What is the shortest stay you take, and what is the notice period to end or extend?
  4. Is the invoice consolidated across countries and properties, and what are the payment terms?
  5. What happens when a worker has a property issue at 9pm on a weekend, who do they contact, directly, and in which language?

If you're weighing up another named provider, our pieces on the Forenom alternative, the Comfy Workers alternative and the AltoVita alternative run through the same checklist.

FAQ

Is Bonjour Residences a direct competitor to Kassoe Housing?

Partially. Kassoe operates managed homes in eight countries and is strongest in Denmark; Bonjour Residences sources across 27 European markets and owns nothing. On a long project in Kassoe's markets, we're closer competitors. If your work spans more countries, the comparison is really about an operator versus pan-European sourcing.

Which countries does Kassoe Housing cover?

According to its website, Kassoe Housing has teams in Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Finland and Ireland.

Does Kassoe Housing own its properties?

It describes itself as an operator of furnished accommodation that works with landlords and local property managers, and it actively recruits property owners to add homes to its portfolio.

Where does the name Kassoe come from?

From Kassø in southern Denmark, the first town where the company followed a client. The Danish letter Ø was changed to "oe" for international use.

Does Bonjour Residences own the properties it books?

No. We are an independent sourcing agency, not a property owner or operator. We match client requirements against a vetted network of 3,000+ suppliers and 70,000+ units and handle sourcing, contracting, check-in coordination and invoicing on top.

Do I have to commit to a minimum volume to get a competitive rate?

No. Frame agreements carry no minimums and no exclusivity.

How many invoices will I receive if my crew is spread across several countries?

One. Every property and country rolls up into a single, VAT-compliant invoice on 30-day payment terms.
